How can veterans and their families qualify for funding from the GI Bill?

The post 9/11 GI Bill benefit payments are tiered based on the amount of creditable active-duty service you have since September 10th, 2001.  With the GI Bill you can pay your tuition and fees either partially or in full based upon the amount of service you performed.  The post 9/11 GI Bill can be used for college and many other types of career training, like the crane operator certification offered at Miller Crane Works.

There are a couple of different ways to go about applying for the GI Bill benefits.

Veterans can apply online at www.benefits.va.gov/applying/asp

Veterans can visit their nearest VA office to apply in person

Or call 1-888-442-4551 to have an application mailed to their home address.
