A mechanic's job with a teaching track

Miller Crane Works trains crane operators and hosts NCCCO practical exams at our yard in Seagoville, Texas. We're looking for a skilled hydraulics mechanic who also wants to cross-train as an instructor. Part of your week goes to diagnosing and repairing hydraulic crane systems; the rest goes to hands-on classroom and lab instruction alongside our training staff.

If you've spent years fixing what operators break and figured you could teach them a thing or two, this is the role.

What you'll do

  • Diagnose and repair hydraulic crane systems and equipment.
  • Train the next generation of certified crane operators.
  • Balance mechanical work with hands-on classroom and lab instruction.
  • Promote a culture of safety, teamwork and skill on the yard.

Who we're looking for

  • An experienced hydraulics mechanic. A mobile crane or heavy equipment background is preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting and mechanical aptitude.
  • Real interest in teaching and mentoring others.
  • A clear communicator who is reliable and safety-minded.
  • Eligible to work in or around Seagoville, TX.

You don't need teaching experience. Instructor training is part of the job.

What you'd be teaching

Our students prepare for NCCCO certification on three families of cranes: telescopic fixed and swing cab mobile cranes, lattice-boom crawlers and tower cranes. Courses mix classroom work (OSHA and ASME rules, crane components, load charts) with simulator time and seat time in the yard, where the NCCCO practical exam course is set up.

A mechanic who understands why a hydraulic system behaves the way it does brings something extra to that classroom: students learn what the machine is doing under them, not just which lever to pull. See the course catalog for what each program covers.

Why work here

  • A two-in-one career that widens your skills and your impact.
  • A welcoming team and supportive leadership.
  • Competitive pay, benefits and on-the-job training.
  • A locally owned company focused on quality and safety.

The yard is at 304 Tunnell St in Seagoville, southeast of Dallas off US-175, with I-20 nearby. See where we are and meet the team.
