What working here is like
Miller Crane Works is a crane operator school and NCCCO practical exam site at 304 Tunnell St in Seagoville, southeast of Dallas. Every week, new and experienced operators train on our telescopic, lattice-boom and tower cranes, and candidates test on the same yard. The equipment runs hard, schedules are set around classes and test days, and safety isn't a slogan: a crane that isn't right gets tagged out.
The team is small, so the people who keep the fleet running work closely with the instructors who use it. Mechanics hear first-hand what students are doing with the cranes, and instructors know the machines because they talk to the people who fix them.
Who does well on our team
- People who take ownership of their work and don't need to be chased.
- Mechanics who document what they do: logbooks and inspection records matter here.
- Anyone who likes explaining how things work. Several roles involve teaching.
- People who are comfortable working outdoors in Texas weather.
Where you'll work
All of our jobs are on-site at the training yard in Seagoville, a small city in southeast Dallas County. The yard sits off US-175 (the C.F. Hawn Freeway), about 20 miles from downtown Dallas, with I-20 a few minutes north. That makes it a reasonable commute from Mesquite, Balch Springs, Forney, Kaufman, Ferris and most of southeast Dallas.
The school is open Monday through Thursday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, and Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Work is planned around class days and NCCCO practical exam days, so equipment is ready before students arrive.
