Lattice Crane Certification Course

This is the overview for lattice boom training at Miller Crane Works. Two approved courses share the crawler in our Seagoville yard: 40 hours for people new to lattice, and 20 hours for people who already run one.

Why this URL is its own page

Searchers looking up an NCCCO lattice course were landing here, then getting sent to the full catalog. The catalog lists every program. This page only compares the two lattice options and points at the practical exam.

A lattice boom is pinned together in sections. Length is chosen when the boom is built up, not telescoped with a lever. The crane we train on sits on tracks. It can travel with a load, which a truck crane on outriggers does not do the same way. Charts change with every boom and jib combination, and the hook block counts against capacity.

40 hours or 20 hours

Choose Mobile Crane Operations Lattice 40 Hours if lattice charts and crawler handling are new. Tuition is $5,500. The week is five 8-hour days.

Choose Mobile Crane Operations Lattice 20 Hours if you already run lattice cranes and want a shorter prep before the exams. Tuition is $2,950.

The Premium Mobile Crane Operations Lattice Course is the 40-hour class plus premium extras. It does not add a hotel.

Shorter addresses such as /lattice-boom-crane and /lattice-crane send you to the 40-hour lattice course, which is the right page if you already know you want the full week.

What the lattice exams cover

NCCCO lattice boom crawler certification (LBC) needs the mobile crane core written exam, the lattice specialty written exam, and a practical exam on a crawler. You have 12 months to pass both the written side and the practical. NCCCO scores the exams and issues the card. We teach and we host the practical in the same yard.

The task list, scoring and what to bring are on the lattice practical exam page. Read that before test day rather than treating this overview as the exam script.

Who should call before enrolling

Telescopic operators adding a lattice credential, and operators who have only seen lattice charts in a book, should talk to admissions before they pay for 20 hours. Twenty hours is a poor fit when the chart style is unfamiliar. Forty hours is a poor fit when you assemble lattice booms for a living and only need the exam routine.

Candidates must be 18, meet NCCCO physical rules and follow its substance policy. Funding routes, including GI Bill® benefits for eligible veterans, are on the funding page. Enrollment steps are on admission.

Lattice course questions

Is the lattice course the same as the fixed cab course?

No. Fixed and swing cab courses use telescopic truck cranes. Lattice courses use the crawler. The specialty written exam is different.

Which lattice page should I enroll from?

Use the 40-hour page if lattice is new, or the 20-hour page if you already run lattice cranes. This overview is only the comparison.

Do you offer lattice class outside Seagoville?

No. Both lattice courses and the lattice practical exam we host are at the Seagoville yard.
