Town of Bernalillo, not the county
People mix these up, so here is the plain version. The town of Bernalillo is a small city on I-25, north of Albuquerque and south of Santa Fe. Bernalillo County is the larger county to the south, centered on Albuquerque. If you live in the town, stay on this page. If you live in Albuquerque, the South Valley or the North Valley, use the Bernalillo County page.
From the town, the trip to Texas starts by going south to Albuquerque and then east. Rail Runner riders still end up at a car or a flight in Albuquerque. There is no training yard in Bernalillo. Seat time happens in Seagoville.
Work you may be training toward
Along this stretch of I-25, cranes show up on road work, school and commercial pads, and the occasional plant job. A fixed or swing cab certification is the usual first card. If a contractor you know runs crawlers, ask us about lattice boom training before you enroll in a telescopic course you do not need.
Bring a photo ID and boots you can work in. The what to expect page lists the rest of the first-week routine, including classroom days before you spend long hours at the controls.
NM DVR for Bernalillo clients
Miller Crane Works is an approved vendor for the New Mexico Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (NM DVR). A client in the town of Bernalillo asks the counselor, not the school, whether training can be funded. We coordinate dates and course outlines after that yes. Details are on the New Mexico DVR page, and the school number is 214-763-0513.
From Bernalillo, the next page people open is usually Albuquerque. The full list is on the New Mexico crane training hub.
